Prior to becoming a TorchStone client, a wealthy individual installed an expensive new security system to better protect the family while in residence. The client was pleased to point out that the system had state-of-the-art capabilities that, in addition to fire and burglary detection, allowed for the comprehensive monitoring of the home from both an audio and video standpoint.
While the components of the system were impressive, the firewall protection for the system’s operating platform was not. In fact, the protections in place were so marginal that TorchStone experts determined that the security network could be easily compromised, providing camera views of the entire home including the baby’s room. Under TorchStone’s guidance, modifications were made to dramatically reduce the probability that the system could be unlawfully accessed and private areas of the home unknowingly surveilled.
